Canaan Access Road Destroyed by Heavy Rains Repaired With the Support of Partnership for Africa
An extra heavy rain season this year left the access road to Canaan severely damaged. The photos below show some of the worst damaged parts of the 1.6 km long access road, which is a private road and therefore does not qualify to be maintained and repaired by the government.
The vehicle in the photos is the Center pick-up truck, which has to use this road daily ferrying supplies, taking children to hospital and bringing in some of non-resident staff members. Due to the damage to the road, the school van failed to pick our children for three weeks. This loss of class time is now being compensated by our children attending school as other pupils in their school are on leave.
The following photos show the same road now being repaired with the support of Partnership for Africa:
We estimate that annually we will need about TShs. 2,500,000 (USD $1,000) to maintain this access road.
